Getting a sweet fix with some Homemade Matcha Nama Chocolate
My absolute favourite treat to bring home from Japan is without a doubt Royce’s Nama Chocolates. When we get to the airport, it’s an automatic impulse for me to grab a box or two of Champagne and Matcha-flavoured Nama Chocolates. I don’t even have to think about it, especially since the exact same Royce chocolates are being sold here in Manila for double the price. We do love to horde Royce Chocolate products, but the Nama Chocolates are our number one pick. They are are these super velvety rectangles of chocolate, which means they melt when exposed to heat (which also means they melt in the mouth), so during my…

A post-Christmas hangover breakfast treat with Homemade Granola
It’s a few days after Christmas and you have leftover gingerbread cookies. What do you do? What’s that? Leftovers are unheard of you say? I think if you had gone on a cookie-baking rampage prior to Christmas it’s not an impossible scenario. It’s why I love making cookies so much—a recipe yields so many! In my personal list of the greatest food creations that exist on the planet, cookies are definitely in the top 10,…

Unless the nuts are candied to rock solid status and are so wrapped up in hardened sugar it’s like biting into a meteor. In which case, please take back your rock-hard nuts and throw it at your lover’s window so that she may come down and meet you.…

A very coconut kind of candy
I’ve been wanting to learn the art of making candy for a while now, but most of them have this complex and intimidating air about them. I simply don’t think I can manipulate sugar if I haven’t even been successful in making caramel. Luckily I came across this recipe for easy-peasy Almond Joys any coconut-lover wouldn’t want to miss! I didn’t use to be a fan of the coconut flavour myself but when I discovered exactly how well it went with chocolate, I began to have a change of heart. In this recipe, desiccated coconut is mixed with honey and coconut oil to create something lightly sweet and chocolatey, but…
