In recent years, I’ve really grown to realize the importance of owning a good refrigerator. As a kid, I never quite understood all the fuss my parents put into picking the right refrigerator for our home. I remember how they tagged me along to several appliance stores, and after checking out so many units we went home empty-handed because they still needed to discuss it further.
The fact is, refrigerators are important investments in any household. They’re not just some box for storing food; refrigerators are essential for helping your food stay in their best shape for as long as possible. Considering how prices of food continue to rise, it only makes sense you’d want to get the most enjoyment out of them right? And a reliable refrigerator definitely helps in that cause.
Panasonic comes to mind when we talk about top refrigerator brands, thanks in part to their noteworthy Prime Fresh technology. This innovation is actually a way of soft-freezing food, especially meats, in such a way that the food stays fresh for a longer amount of time.
Using the optimal temperature of -3°C, the food doesn’t turn into a rock solid thing. Instead, Panasonic Prime Fresh chills the food while also preserving its original texture. When you pull out your meat from the Prime Fresh compartment of the Panasonic refrigerator, you don’t have to thaw it even for a minute. In comparison, taking meat out of the freezer means having to thaw it for a few hours before you can even begin thinking about prepping it for cooking.
I can’t help but think that perhaps this kind of food storage is one of the secrets of Japanese cuisine. As it turns out, Panasonic introduced the first -3°C compartment in Japan way back in 1984, and as everybody knows, freshness is EVERYTHING in Japanese cuisine. And the awesome part is, soft freezing also preserves the nutritional value of the food!
I was actually able to get an idea of this feature with Mary from What Mary Loves and GJ from Luto ni Lola one time, where we were able to compare two slices of beef that were frozen using two different methods. One was pulled out from a regular freezer while the other was stored using the Panasonic Prime Fresh technology. Take a look:
You know, I can really imagine the mind-boggling amount of things I could make with a perfect slice of meat. I can imagine myself in my apron, pulling out the meat from the Panasonic Prime Fresh compartment, and then immediately just getting to work. Maybe I’d make a double serving of this absolutely delicious Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi?
On second though, maybe I’ll prep for Beef Satay with Curried Cashew Sauce. (The sauce of this is amazing, by the way!)
The thought of making all these really excites me, and now I really wonder how big of a difference having the Panasonic Prime Fresh technology in my kitchen would make. I feel like it not only would improve my workflow, but it would also really help preserve the natural flavors and textures of the meats I would use in these dishes too. And while I agree that getting a Panasonic refrigerator may seem like a big investment at first, I do believe that it’s important to take note of what you’re getting in exchange.
